This
site is for the benefit of all aquarium hobbyists. It was established to help
beginners start up and maintain their aquariums.
As well as a host for articles for beginners all the way
to the experts in order to promote this fascinating
hobby. A lot of beginners started out with the infamous
simple glass bowl of water with one or two goldfish in
it, that died shortly afterwards. With the
understanding that fish are totally dependant on our
care, a bit of aquarium education can go a long way to
help you provide your fish with a good aqua-home that
will keep them from dying prematurely. The most
prevalent problem shared by new aquarium owners. That
same tiny bit of education will not only save your fish,
but your wallet as well. Most beginners, initially, are
just not aware of all the needs of fish in order for
them to have a safe aqua-home. The good news is there's
most likely just a little bit more you need to know and
a few more items you need to buy when first setting up
your aquarium in order to be successful and really enjoy
this terrific hobby. Water quality is the most
important to understand. Few beginners realize to the
extent necessary, that PH, High PH, water hardness,
Nitrate, Nitrite, and Ammonia all affect the quality of
the water in an aquarium. Poor water quality is the
main killer of tropical fish. Just remember, all those
experts were once beginners too. Breeding tropical
fish is also very fascinating. Anyone can breed guppies
and watch them give birth to "live" babies. So take
some time to read up on fish care at this website and
learn enough to really enjoy having aquariums full of
healthy happy tropical fish. We have articles for
beginners to the experts from experienced and
knowledgeable experts and reviews of aquarium products
from manufactures. There's something for everyone
here. |

For over 35 years, I have been raising
and breeding fish, as a hobby. I do not
sell them. My fascination with fish
aquariums started when I was a young boy
and have maintained tanks ever since. I
bought and read every aquarium book I
could get my hands on. I have bread
fish that there was no breeding
literature on, fish that in every book I
read, claimed were never bread in
captivity. I learned very early on that
the "environment", the water in the tank
and food we feed were some of the main
keys to fish reproduction, health and
longevity. In the "Breeding tips"
section, I pass along my secrets to
breeding the C. Trilineatus and C. Julii
catfish, reported to have never been
bred in captivity or at least a very
difficult fish to breed in an aquarium
(see ).
